The (same) GTS recipe
Regulars of the GTS versions will not be out of place when they see this Taycan. Several details are black on the exterior, such as the front with this darkened shield or the base of the side mirror shells, not to mention the windows surrounded by a black band. But that’s not all, because the manufacturer immediately integrates several components covered with the Race-Tex finish or brushed aluminum with a black anodized finish on the inside. As for the badges, they are also black.
In short, a sportier atmosphere finally and no one will complain about this other livery that joins the range.
Surgical precision behind the wheel
Equipped with a pair of electric motors reaching the milestone of 509 horsepower (or 590 when the Overboost Power function is engaged), the Porsche Taycan GTS is not a turtle, despite its significant weight of more than two tons. This is therefore not where the GTS stands out the most, the variant which only supplants the basic version in the Taycan organization chart… in terms of motorization at least.
No, it’s in the details that the GTS shines, thanks in particular to this more aggressive configuration of the rear steering. An addition that is accompanied by a monetary supplement since this more angular direction appears in the options book.
We should also mention the presence of the adaptive air suspension, combined with the PASM system (for Porsche Active Suspension Management), which makes life easier for the driver, even on our worn roads where the presence of potholes threatens the integrity of superb 21-inch clogs.
The differences with the other variants of the Taycan are indeed more subtle than those which differentiate the Porsche models with internal combustion engines, but they are noticeable after several kilometers. The steering, for example, feels more precise than usual – probably thanks to the oversized rims. In addition, the artificial sound emitted by the car when in Sport or Sport+ mode is more convincing on board the GTS than in the other Taycans.
Well, a flat-6 symphony would indeed be more than welcome, but for now, the manufacturer is following the trend of the moment, which is to offer a quiet car most of the time. For episodes where the driver wants to have fun, this artificial music enhances the already very exhilarating experience at the base.
